Trek to Serpentine Valley

On May 24 IATNL Chairperson Paul Wylezol and Treasurer Kevin Noseworthy made the most of a beautiful spring day to head into Serpentine Valley to survey a connecting route for the Lewis Hills Trail from Logger School Road to the north end of the hills.  Plans are underway to extend the trail this summer from Cabox (the highest point on the island of Newfoundland) across the hills to the old logging road.   From there the IATNL will cross the Serpentine River and ascend the Blow Me Down Mountains to Cape Blow Me Down, then on to Benoit’s Cove in the Bay of Islands.  As you can see from the photos, the 3-day Lewis Hills Trail will surely be one of the IATNL’s marquee trails.
